Generation Vote Trust of Aotearoa

Delivering non-partisan civics education workshops that foster an educated, engaged, and empowered generation of ākonga in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Generation Vote was founded in 2018 by University of Otago students to promote and teach non-partisan civics education and literacy in high schools. As youth teaching youth, we aim to inspire and foster an educated, engaged, and empowered generation of citizens all over Aotearoa New Zealand. 

We are now a registered charitable trust, expanding and growing alongside the demand for civics education all around the country. We currently have two teaching teams: the Otago Branch based at Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākau - the University of Otago, and the VUW Branch based at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington. 

Our programme covers the democratic basics in Aotearoa New Zealand: Parliament and Government, MMP (our Electoral System), Policy and Lawmaking, Te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi, and Local Government. Packed with activities and opportunities for discussion, our programme is fun for the whole classroom!
