The Otago Branch of Generation Vote is based out of Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākou – The University of Otago. They are responsible for organising and delivering our education programme to classrooms on a week-to-week basis.

WILL MISSEN

WILL MISSEN (BRANCH DIRECTOR)

Will is in his third year of studying at Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākou - the University of Otago. He’s working towards a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics and a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences majoring in Genetics and Human Reproduction. As a fresh face to the Generation Vote Otago Executive in 2023, Will is looking forward to making a difference in local communities.

LUCY BEBAN (ASSISTANT DIRECTOR)

Lucy is in her third year at Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākou - the University of Otago, studying towards a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts, in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. Having spent two years as a volunteer with Generation Vote, Lucy was ready to get more involved in our work. She loves seeing the creativity and ideas students come up with, especially in the debates.

MELANIE BISHOP (SECRETARY)

In her third year at Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākou - the University of Otago, Melanie is working towards an LLB and BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. She’s excited to continue connecting with students and helping educate, engage, and empower them.

Originally from Auckland, Alex is working towards a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce at Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākou - the University of Otago. She loves Generation Vote’s mission and thinks political education is vital for future generations.

ELI LESPERANCE (VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR)

Eli grew up in the Hawkes Bay, and moved south to study a Bachelor of Commerce at Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākou - the University of Otago. This will be Eli’s third year working with Generation Vote, but his first as Volunteer Coordinator. Working with people and giving back to the community in a meaningful way is really important to him and why he loves being a part of Generation Vote.

MAX BENTER-LYNCH (COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER)

Max is working toward a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce at Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākou - the University of Otago. Having volunteered with Generation Vote throughout 2022 he’s excited to take on the Communications role and help grow Generation Vote in Dunedin.

CALLUM HADLOW (GENERAL EXECUTIVE OFFICER)

Callum is from the far north and braved the cold to study a Bachelor of Arts at Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākou - the University of Otago, majoring in Politics. 2023 is Callum's first year working on the Otago Branch Executive of Generation Vote. He works with Generation Vote because he considers it crucial that future generations get the political education they deserve.
