The VUW Branch of Generation Vote is based out of the Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington. They are responsible for organising and delivering our education programme to classrooms on a week-to-week basis.

ANNA HILL (BRANCH DIRECTOR)

Anna is in her fifth year studying Law, Political Science and International Relations, in addition to a Masters in Political Science. She is a part of Generation Vote because she believes it is vital that the next generation is equipped with the information and tools they need to participate in New Zealand’s political system with confidence.

WILLIAM YAN (PROGRAMME MANAGERR)

William is in his first year of studying a Masters in Marine Biology. He is a part of GV because the interests/goals of the organisation are something he adores. He enjoys the most being able to help young children learn about the weird and wonderful of civics.

ELLA STEPHENS (SECRETARY)

Ella is an Associate Policy Advisor in the public sector. She recently completed a Bachelor of Communication majoring in Public Policy and Political Communication and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in International Relations. She loves educating young people about civics and empowering youth to get involved.

JOSHUA EDWARDS (TREASURER)

Joshua is in his fourth year of studying for a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Economics. He has been a member of Generation Vote for 3 years as he believes civics is crucial to education and enjoys the community Generation Vote has created.

MATTHEW FRANCIS (VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR)

Matthew is a third-year student studying Law, Political Science and International Relations. He joined Generation Vote as he thinks it is important to educate Rangatahi about civics and help empower them to get involved in their local communities.

JOHN O'CONNOR (VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR)

John is in his third year of studying law and management. He joined Generation Vote because he is passionate about making civics education accessible to everyone. He enjoys working with students and helping them develop the knowledge and confidence to engage with democratic processes in Aotearoa.

Quinn Courche

QUINN COURCHÉ (VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT OFFICER)

Quinn is in her fourth year studying Political Science, International Relations and Law. She joined Generation Vote because she thinks it’s important that young people have the opportunity to learn about civics education. The engagement she has seen so far in classrooms is inspiring.

OLIVIA TRASS (COMMUNICATIONS LIAISON OFFICER)

Olivia is a Communications, Marketing, and Politics graduate from Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka. They were born and raised in Wellington and got interested in New Zealand politics as a teenager thanks to living so close to Parliament. Outside of Generation Vote they are a youth worker and strong advocate for diverse youth engagement.

CHARLOTTE SIRIMAN (COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER)

Charlotte is a third-year Political Communications student at Victoria University. After enjoying her time as a facilitator in 2024, she is excited to take on the role of Communications Officer for the 2025 VUW exec. She finds working with Generation Vote to be extremely rewarding as she feels it is important to empower the next generation through civics education and help build Rangatahi confidence in engaging with politics and democracy in the future.

OLIVER WOODWARD (EVENTS OFFICER)

Oliver is a 3rd year student at Te Herenga Waka. He studies Law, Political Science and History so a bit of a weird mix. He is a part of the Generation Vote executive this year as he really enjoys the mission, they have set out to do. Educating young people on civics is an amazing thing that is often forgotten. Having the opportunity to do this has not only helped them but him and he joined the executive to help further this goal.
