The VUW Branch of Generation Vote is based out of the Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington. They are responsible for organising and delivering our education programme to classrooms on a week-to-week basis.

PHOEBE SUGRUE (BRANCH DIRECTOR)

Originally from Christchurch, Phoebe is currently in her third year of studying in Wellington, working towards a Bachelor of Arts. While also working part-time, she majors in Public Policy and Cultural Anthropology with a minor in International Relations.

DIANA MILNE (ASSISTANT DIRECTOR)

Diana is in her second year studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science & Public Policy and minoring in Economics and Philosophy. Alongside her studies she has worked as a Parliamentary intern on the Treaty Negotiations Portfolio and as a Communications, Research and Policy Assistant on the Ethnic Affairs portfolio. She is very enthusiastic about politics and civic engagement and really enjoys educating young people about her passions.

LUCY LOWE (SECRETARY)

Lucy is in her fifth year at Te Herenga Waka— Victoria University of Wellington, studying towards a Bachelor of Laws and Science. She has been passionate about civics from a young age, and wishes she had access to more resources surrounding this passion at high school. She’s excited to continue encouraging and educating students about New Zealand civics and politics.

LIV BROWN (TREASURER)

Liv is in her fifth year of studies in Law and Public Policy at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. This is her second year as Treasurer for VUW Generation Vote. She has greatly enjoyed being a part of Generation Vote, sharing her deep interest for politics and civil engagement

LISA NGUYEN (VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR)

Lisa is currently a fourth year student studying towards a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science and International Relations at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. She also works as a high school tutor.

REWA WALKER (VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR)

Rewa is a third-year student at Te Herenga Waka, studying conjoint degrees in law and environmental studies, with minors in ecology and biodiversity, and public policy. She is passionate about engaging young people in politics and increasing voter turnout. She has really enjoyed working with our volunteers and school groups throughout 2022 and is excited to be part of the Generate Vote executive team in 2023.

TUIA TAPUKE (MĀORI ENGAGEMENT OFFICER)

Raised in Wellington, Tuia is in her third year at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington, studying a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in International Relations and Philosophy, minoring in Sociology. She has had a passion for civics education since high school and thinks that its a necessity in classrooms. Tuia is excited to continue to contribute to the kaupapa of Generation Vote.

HELENA PALMER (COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER)

Helena is a third year at Te Herenga Waka, studying law, political science and history. Volunteering with Generation Vote in 2022, she really enjoyed being in the classroom with rangatahi to help facilitate civics learning. In an increasingly uncertain environment, she considers it to be incredibly important that everyone has the ability to participate in our system, starting with teaching our young people how the system works and encouraging engagement.

LUKA LICUL (GENERAL EXECUTIVE OFFICER)

Luka graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 2022 with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Public Policy. Currently, Luka works as business consultant for Ernst & Young. In the past, Luka has worked as a policy advisor at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment, and the Treasury.

Albert Ututaonga

ALBERT UTUTAONGA (GENERAL EXECUTIVE OFFICER)

Initially from Christchurch, Albert is going into his third year of study towards a Bachelor of Arts at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington. Albert works part time while majoring in International Relations and Political Science with a minor in Japanese.
